He Will Make Your Paths Straight
We just got back from traveling overseas. There was a 7 hour time difference and I had a fair amount of jet lag, especially coming back home. It can be disorienting when your eyes are telling you it’s one time of day and your stomach and the rest of your body are telling you that it’s a different time.
We can find ourselves in the same situation spiritually. Sometimes our minds and hearts are not in agreement on a decision or problem. At other times, our minds and hearts may be telling us one thing but somewhere deep inside we keep hearing a voice that is telling us something else. When this happens, we may begin to feel a little disoriented and unsure what to do. We should first see whether that voice is coming from God through His Spirit living in us or if it is just our past experiences or emotions that are bothering us for some reason. We begin in prayer, asking the Spirit to guide us and help us see our situation more clearly. We can seek the trusted counsel of family and friends. Ultimately, we want to get to the point where we can put it all in God’s hands, because we know that He desires only the best for us. We are told, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6). God can and does work in the circumstances of our life. We can ask Him to open the door that is best for us and close all the other doors so that we might make the best decision. He will also give us His peace when we are walking in His ways.
Let God lead you in His ways and give you confidence in your chosen path.
