Bring Them to Jesus
I have cared for uninsured patients and patients with limited coverage for many years. We can provide primary care services, but it’s very hard to obtain specialty care if you don’t have insurance. One of the most difficult parts of my work occurs when I have a patient who desperately needs to see a specialist but I have no way of getting them in to see that doctor. It’s sad to see someone suffer because they can’t get the help that they need.
We are surrounded by hurting people, not just physically hurting but emotionally and spiritually as well. Many of them need Jesus’ touch in their lives.
We read in the Gospels (Mark 2:1-12) about a paralyzed man whose friends/family members wanted to bring him to Jesus to be healed. When they couldn’t get near Jesus, they climbed to the roof of the house where Jesus was staying, tore through the roof tiles, and lowered the man in front of Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith, He healed the paralytic.
We should have that same intensity of desire to bring people to Jesus. Certainly, we should be lifting them up in our daily prayers. We should also be ready to help those in need, bringing Jesus to others through our loving service. We can comfort those who are hurting, reminding them of Jesus’ love. As the Spirit leads us and the opportunity presents itself, we should be ready to share our faith with those who need to hear the Good News, encouraging them to turn to Jesus.
Most of us have an innate desire to help others, especially those we care about. When we look at life through the lens of eternity, nothing is as important as our relationship with Jesus. Let’s bring Jesus to the world and the world to Jesus, not letting any obstacle keep us from our task.
