Blueprint for Living the Christian Life
We’ve been
living in our house for 30 years. We had it built. Back then, you didn’t have
fancy 3-D views of what your house would look like. You reviewed the blueprints
and the architect’s rendering and signed off on them. Then it was the
construction team’s job to build the house according to the blueprint that they
had.
Paul wrote a
letter to the Colossians. Chapter 3 was his blueprint to the new believers as
to how to build their Christian lives. He wrote, “Clothe yourselves with
compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other
and forgive whatever grievances you have against one another. Forgive as the
Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all
together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts…..and be
thankful….let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…..and whatever you do, whether
in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the
Father through him” (Colossians 3:12-17).
Read
Colossians when you have time, especially dwelling on Chapter 3. Use it to see
how well you have been following God’s blueprint. Resolve to keep to the Great
Architect’s plan in the new year and ask Him for His help in remaining
faithful.
May you have
a blessed New Year!
